The song we will be producing a video is named ’All or nothing’ by the singer and producer Jay Sean. This song does not have a video therefore our decision of process making for the song will not be influenced into making a copycat (if there was a video) therefore our ideas will be fresh and will complement the song by making the video.

The History of Plastic Pop" takes a decade-by-decade look at some of the music industry's more cynical creations from the 1950s to the 21st century, encompassing acts such as The Monkees, The Bay City Rollers and The Spice Girls, as well as the phenomenon that is Pop Idol and its siblings. This revealing study includes interviews with the movers and shakers of the pop world and the artistic armies behind their successes, including Chinn and Chapman, Stock, Aitken and Waterman, Simon Fuller, Paula Abdul and Cathy Dennis.
Resarch in music genres
Rnb
R&B, or rhythm and blues, is a musical term that has changed drastically in meaning since it was coined by Atlantic Records executive Jerry Wexler in 1948 as a substitute for the term "race records." In a historical sense, R&B represents the point at which black music began to slowly mutate into rock and roll. In a modern sense, R&B is a genre of smooth pop music that is entirely centered on the vocalist. It retains elements of funk, hip hop and soul, but is completely different from the rhythm and blues of the 50s and 60s. LINKhttp://www.ehow.com/about_5044174_beginning-rb-music.html
Rnb music has changed and wont sound as 'jazz' like it use to and influenced by pop, whereas hip hop which is closely related to Rnb has some jazz elements for example Jay Z recent song (cannot remember the exact song) he has used a saxophone playing in the back of the song which has element of jazz. The target audience of Rnb be is mainly young teenagers to late 20's this is because a lot of Rnb songs are very slow and to do with love around this age is often where relationship's and break ups happen, the reason why it is not targeted mainly at people in their 30's or onwards is because they often are settled down and are not as delusional as teens or people in their 20's. The gender can be boys and girls equally as the songs invovle either boy singing about girl or girl singing about boy. As demonstrated in the video the dilemmas of love.

Pop
Pop music is the abbreviation of popular music.Pop music is an ample and imprecise category of modern music not defined by artistic considerations but by its potential audience or prospective market. Pop is music composed with deliberate intent to appeal to the majority of its contemporaries. In opposition to music that requires education or formation to appreciate, a defining characteristic of pop music is that anyone is able to enjoy it. Artistic concepts such as complex musical form and aesthetics are not a concern in the writing of pop songs, the primary objectives being audience enjoyment and commercial success.

Generally it is a wide genre which influences many genres and has the rock and roll approach however it is different to rock ie heavy metal is completely different but associated with the rock genre. The gender its mainly aimed at is girls, boys would likey to listen listen to rock pop but not pop itself. The characterisitcs of pop are funky and energetic therefore the target audience is likely to be younger children to teens which fits their charteristic. Pop is an younger version of music compared to mature Rnb without the jazz and blues and of course the element of black music.
Bhangra
Traditional Bhangra is a fusion of music, singing and the beat of the dhol drum, a single-stringed instrument called the iktar (ektara), the tumbi and the chimta. The accompanying songs are small couplets written in the Punjabi language called bolis. They relate to current issues faced by the singers and (dil the gal) what they truly want to say. In Punjabi folk music, the dhol's smaller cousin, the dholki, was nearly always used to provide the main beat. Nowadays the dhol is used more frequently, with and without the dholki. Additional percussion, including tabla, is less frequently used in bhangra as a solo instrument but is sometimes used to accompany the dhol and dholki. The dholki drum patterns in Bhangra music bear an intimate similarity to the rhythms in Reggae music. This rhythm serves as a common thread which allows for easy commingling between Bhangra and Reggae as demonstrated by such artists as the UK's Apache Indian.[2][3]As many Bhangra lyrics reflect the long and often tumultuous history of the Punjab, knowledge of Punjabi history offers important insights into the meaning of the music. During the last thirty years, Bhangra has enjoyed a surge in popularity worldwide, both in traditional form and as a fusion with genres such as hip-hop, house, and reggae.

to sum this up bhangra is originated from Punjab it is a form of dance also music, it has changed during the years and has now days been influenced of different genres mainly rnb and hip hop. the energy of traditional bhangra is similar to rock as it has alot of energy in the music. It is aimed at both girls and boys as there are now recently more duet singing songs with girls and boys singing in those song, a famous female bhangra duet vocalist Miss Pooja has introduced duet singing to the younger generation. the target age group of this genre is all but it depends on what the lyrics for example, the song is about love it is unlikely a OAP would listen to it, age has not been a big issue in the bhrah industry as people in thier 20's, 30's,40's and even late 50's are famous in the bhangra industry. Bhangra is influenced by both Punjabi culture and is the start of Sikh music. this link shows all these elements of gender and age as well as punjabi culture. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZO8qsulYTA
Rock
The sound of rock often revolves around the guitar and it uses a strong back beat laid down by a rhythm section of electric bass guitar, drums, and keyboard instruments such as organ, piano, or, since the 1970s, synthesizers. Along with the guitar or keyboards, saxophone and blues-style harmonica are sometimes used as soloing instruments. In its "purest form", it "has three chords, a strong, insistent back beat, and a catchy melody."[1]In the late 1960s and early 1970s, rock music developed different subgenres. When it was blended with folk music it created folk rock, with blues to create blues-rock and with jazz, to create jazz-rock fusion. In the 1970s, rock incorporated influences from soul, funk, and Latin music. Also in the 1970s, rock developed a number of subgenres, such as soft rock, glam rock, heavy metal, hard rock, progressive rock, and punk rock. Rock subgenres that emerged in the 1980s included new wave, hardcore punk and alternative rock. In the 1990s, rock subgenres included grunge, Britpop, indie rock, and nu metal.

Bollywood
Bollywood film music is called filmi music (from Hindi, meaning "of films"). Songs from Bollywood movies are generally pre-recorded by professional playback singers, with the actors then lip synching the words to the song on-screen, often while dancing. While most actors, especially today, are excellent dancers, few are also singers. One notable exception was Kishore Kumar, who starred in several major films in the 1950s while also having a stellar career as a playback singer. K. L. Saigal, Suraiyya, and Noor Jehan were also known as both singers and actors. Some actors in the last thirty years have sung one or more songs themselves; for a list, see Singing actors and actresses in Indian cinema.
